Description
Do you have kids who struggle with self-regulation and typical SEL programs don’t seem to be working? Many students are unable to apply the lessons from the programs because they have poor interoception and cannot tell what “zone” they are in or how fast their “engine is running”.
Interoception is our 8th sense and includes our sensations in our inner organs (heart, lungs, brain, muscles, bladder, etc.). Learning to notice our inner sensations allows kids to apply strategies when needed to self-regulate.
This resource bundle will help you start with teaching interoception.
The bundle includes:
- 5 days of lesson plans for an interoception curriculum for groups or individuals
- The lesson plans can be used with a whole class with varying abilities
-
- The curriculum is ideal for OTs to use with kids on their caseloads who are not responding to SEL programs
-
- The curriculum includes daily in-class activity suggestions and homework
- The bundle also includes the interoception activities workbook
- This 20-page workbook focuses on interoception (the “8th sense”, our inner sensations), with emphasis on sensations felt in the brain, lungs, heart, bladder, and stomach/tummy.
- There are pages for each body part which give basic overview of what it does.
- There is a page introducing relationship between emotions and sensations.
- There is a matching page with body parts and sample emotions, which requires students to draw lines matching each.
- There are pages with a given emotion (such as excited) where student writes what they feel and where. Each page has a body outline to decorate
